The Minneapolis Park Board rents buoys on Lake Calhoun each summer for mooring sailboats. CYC members may choose to moore their boats on the lake.
Buoys are allocated in a drawing each year in mid-April. To be eligible for the drawing, permit applications must be submitted by the end of March. Although Minneapolis residents are given preference, those who live outside the city can usually get a buoy as well.
In recent years, a few buoys have been left over after the drawing. If you own a boat and want to join CYC after mid-April, you may still be able to get a buoy.
